The King Salman international Complex for Maritime Industries and Services, or Maritime Yard Project (MYP) is a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia's ambitious "Vision 2030," a strategic framework aimed at reducing the country's dependence on oil, diversifying its economy, and developing public service sectors. The MYP is a collaborative effort between some of the world's leading entities in the maritime industry: Saudi Aramco, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Bahri, and Lamprell. This consortium brings together unparalleled expertise in oil production, shipbuilding, marine logistics, and offshore drilling platform construction.
Situated on the eastern coast of the Persian Gulf, the project is strategically located in Port of Ras al Khair, placing it within easy reach of major economic hubs like Jubail and Dammam, and approximately 560 kilometers from the capital Riyadh. The proximity to these cities ensures efficient logistical support and connectivity, further enhanced by a six-lane expressway that facilitates smooth transportation to and from the site.
The MYP Package 4 project encompasses an expansive area covering roughly 2.31 million square meters, with dimensions of about 1.5 kilometers by 1.54 kilometers. This vast territory is being transformed into a state-of-the-art facility that will bolster Saudi Arabia's position as a global player in the maritime industry. The complex aims to provide comprehensive services for building and maintaining vessels, including very large crude carriers (VLCCs), and offshore structures, thereby supporting the kingdom's push towards industrialization and self-sufficiency.
Since the early start of 2020, SINCHOLD has taken on a critical role in this endeavor, providing design, supply, construction, and commissioning services for the flexible crane track system—a key component for the effective operation of the yard. The implementation of such advanced infrastructure underscores the commitment to innovation and efficiency in line with international standards. By integrating cutting-edge technology and adhering to best practices, SINCHOLD's contribution is instrumental in ensuring that the MYP not only meets but exceeds expectations, setting new benchmarks for the maritime industry in the region and beyond.
